Abstract: Hepatitis B virus infection seems to protect against steatosis and insulin resistance decreasing NAFLD. Metabolic syndrome has been associated with increased risk of disease progression to cirrhosis and liver cancer in hepatitis B. HBsAg seroclearance increased over time and it could be a confounding factor when analysing NAFLD and hepatitis B prevalence.
